Amy | I have always admired students who hand in their homework on time. Me, on the other hand, I should say my big problem is that I can’t get myself organized! So I am wondering what your ways of getting organized are. Reply below. I’m hoping you can offer some suggestions on better study skills. |
Replies
Ted | Lately, I’ve started keeping a small study diary. I write down everything I need to do and when it needs to be done by. Then I write a reminder a few days before the date just in case. It’s helping. |
Hana | Good question, Amy. I always spend about five minutes at the end of the day tidying up the desktop on my computer. I make a copy of important documents. |
Gloria | The most important thing is to start a few weeks before the exams and not to leave it until the night before! That’s just common sense, I think. |
Lou | My tip is to have a big noticeboard in your bedroom, divided into different parts. I’ve got one. It’s a whiteboard. I’ve got a part for each school subject and another part for other things. I use board pens to write reminders and I make sure I look at them every day. |

25、 As a girl growing up in Oakland, Harris was attracted to nature in college, she accepted a green lifestyle, avoiding chemicals(化学物质) in her food and beauty products lo make her carbon footprint(碳足迹) less.
Later, teaching in primary schools in poor neighborhoods, she was shocked for her students not having the ideas of protecting the environment. But she also understood. “For many communities of color, these problems often seem less important because they are dealing with daily lives,” she says.
Harris decided to teach children the advantages of sustainable(可持续的) living and in 2007 set up the grassroots group Grind for the Green(G4G), an organization that educates kids about green subjects as well as providing training in entry-level green jobs. She used hip-hop music to draw more people’s attention. “We created it to make a deeper connection with the kids” she explains.
One early project was a free solar-powered(太阳能的) hip-hop concert- the first of its kind—-in San Francisco. Solar panels(太阳能板) on a mobile bus produced all the electricity, and the kids set up road stands(货摊) offering green food and drinks made in bicycle-powered blenders. The event was successful, leading to other G4G concerts and attracting concert organizers and producers who wanted to work with G4G. “We’ve been able to get close to a special field that other environmental groups couldn’t,” Harris says. “Our events are produced by young people who carry out the tasks faster and better” she adds.
No one can say that poor people or people of color don't care about the earth. From the story of Harris, we’ve seen communities become connected with these green subjects once they’ve been educated and learn a way to do something about it.

27、He has millions of students from all around the world. They listen to his classes online but never see his face on the screen. Salman Khan, 39, from the US, is the founder of the learning website Khan Academy.
Unlike other online courses that film teachers giving classes, Khan’s videos only use his voice and a digital (数码的) blackboard for writing. He says he doesn’t want a human face to distract students. Khan also makes his classes as short as 10 to 15 minutes so students don’t lose interest. They can also earn (获得) points from taking these classes.
