However, you had better remember they keep a roof over your head when it’s cold, raining, snowing, or too hot. Understand that parents are human beings and make mistakes.【3】Since you can forgive (原谅) your friends, why not forgive your parents?

Keep company with them. Do things with your parents like watching TV, or going somewhere with them.【4】Listen to their old stories and learn from them. You will find they are your teachers in this way or another.

22、Mind mapping is the practice of creating a diagram in order to organise your thoughts in a visual way. Mind maps, also known as spider diagrams, are organised with a central idea-often represented by a single word that conveys the central topic-surrounded by branches of sub-topics and closely related ideas. Those branches produce their own sub-branches of words and short phrases associated with sub-topics.

Mind mapping is often considered a visual learning strategy for brainstorming, but the value of it goes beyond simple webbing done in elementary school. It is a universal thinking strategy, a way to organise ideas and learn just about anything. According to a recent study, the reason why mind mapping works so well is that it matches how people naturally think-which is not how most people are taught.

For most of our lives, we are asked to learn information that is presented in a line form. Lectures, videos and textbooks all present information in orderly line ways-with a beginning, middle and end. This is excellent for delivering information, but combining and integrating new information--the key to deep learning-requires very different cognitive processes.

This is where visual learning and mind mapping come in. Mapping allows students to capture ideas and integrate content in no fixed or prescribed (预先设定的) order, and in ways that use multiple senses. When mapping an idea, a person can skip around from topic to topic, but rather than leading to confusion, mind mapping provides an effective way to capture thinking as it happens. Using our visual, spatial (空间的) and sports senses, mind mapping allows people to build a visual model of a concept and organise that information logically.

Mind mapping lets learners interact with ideas like puzzle pieces. This allows them to see ideas develop and reflect on their thinking as ideas take shape. Interacting with ideas by moving them around visually and spatially gives learners an authentic and self-directed method to work with information and construct new knowledge.

Another thing about mind mapping is that it closely combines convergent (收敛的), linear (left-brain) thinking with divergent (发散的), non-linear (right-brain) thinking. This visual learning strategy effectively engages the whole mind in processing and analysing new information.

By engaging the whole mind in learning, mind mapping makes learning easier. For one thing, the use of colours, shapes and images to present concepts and data provides the brain with visual associations and thus promotes better memorisation of information. For another, mind mapping is a particularly effective method for inspiring outside-the-box thinking. By changing a blank page into a flowchart of branches and sub-branches, it encourages you to view the central concept from a thousand different angles, which can, in turn, inspire new ideas.

【1】According to the passage, the definition of a mind map can be best summarized as ________.

A.the practice of visualising your central ideas in the form of a spider diagram

B.the simple webbing of one’s ideas and topics put forward during brainstorming

C.a spider diagram with branches of topics and ideas arranged in an orderly way

D.a diagram presenting a central concept with related ideas arranged around it

【2】Mind mapping is beneficial to one’s learning for the following reasons EXCEPT that ________.

A.it assists learners to visualise the ideas by engaging their various senses

B.it encourages learners to easily move around from one topic to another

C.it creates an environment where thinking occurs and develops naturally

D.it combines different modes of thinking and engages the whole mind

【3】The underlined part “outside-the-box” in paragraph 7 can be best replaced by ________.

A.comprehensive

B.analytical

C.creative

D.inexhaustible

【4】What can be inferred from the passage?

A.Deep learning involves learners’ interaction with ideas and construction of information

B.Learners absorb information better when ideas are organised in a fixed and orderly way

C.Integrating ideas through mind maps may cause learners to feel puzzled during learning

D.Mind mapping helps learners to interact with ideas in the same way as playing puzzles does

四、书面表达(共1题,共 5分)

26、Directions: Read the following passage. Summarize the main idea and the main point(s) of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.

Living in the countryside?

Rolling hills and endless green pastures — those images are easy to conjure when thinking of the peaceful country lifestyle.

When lockdowns descended upon many countries across the world during the pandemic, social media seemed to be dominated by pictures of cottages and village life. So, why is living in the countryside becoming a modem fantasy — and are there benefits to considering a slower pace of life?

It makes sense that some people would want to give up the crowded and noisy city streets for the perceived tranquility of the traditional country life — especially during an event like a pandemic. The lockdowns and extensive periods of working from home have given people time to think about what they want from life. But it’s not just about having a greener place to look at out your window.

There is more evidence that relates to the benefits of rural living. Villages aren’t normally subject to the stop-go traffic we see in city centres, the buses fighting with taxis for dominance, or metro systems with trains that scream from one station to the next. In short, there’s less air pollution in your country retreat — a thing which increases the chances of developing respiratory conditions or heart disease. You also get more opportunities to take long walks and see the sights, meaning you can get more exercise. Less noise, more walks and better air can also lead to less stress and an increased life expectancy, according to studies such as one conducted by the British government in 2012.

However, there are some things that need to be considered.

Weather can be a large drawback when it comes to moving to the countryside. In some parts of the country, the winters bring blizzards and the spring brings torrential rains and flooding.

Living .far from the hustle and bustle of the city means that some, people may feel isolated or even lonely. And as people get older, life far from doctors or public transport could become a bit of a challenge.

So, if you’re considering a change of pace and moving to a picturesque village, there is a range of pros and cons to consider before taking the plunge.
