Next week she will be in court to testify (作证) against a friend who hurt her. “Being here makes me forget all about that, ” she says.

At Breeze Arts Foundation in Leeds, eight young people between the ages of 16 and 20 are practising what their acting teacher Fiona has presented to them.

Breeze Arts Foundation, which has been running for five years, is trying to get young people who are Neet (not in education, employment or training) or in danger of becoming Neets back into education or work.

Each member of the group tells a different story. Some are here because they simply can’t stay in school, some because they have family problems, and some because they have a history of breaking the law.

The course members attend a 12week programme. While here they will all work towards an Arts Award and an endofterm performance.

Sarah McGlinchey is the course keyworker. As well as designing the courses, she does oneonone work with the students, helping with everything from housing to job hunting. Lessons are given on Wednesdays and Thursdays but the rest of the time McGlinchey focuses on onetoone support.

Some of the teens here will never go on to work in the performing arts, but some will make career in the area. One former member has worked at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. It’s the first time in history for two women to win the prize without having to share it with a man. At the same time, US astronomer (天文学家) Andrea Ghez became the fourth woman to win a Nobel Prize in Physics, which she shared with two other scientists. Its first female winner was Marie Curie (居里夫人) in 1903.

It could also help treat inherited diseases (遗传病) in the future.

On hearing that they were the sixth and seventh women to win the Chemistry Prize, Charpentier said that she hopes girls and young female scientists will “understand that nothing is impossible.” They can “find great discoveries. It’s independent of the gender. ”

Ghez, who was awarded for her research on black holes, had the same feeling. “I’m delighted to be part of the change where more women visibly (明显地) succeed. 23、There’s nothing sadder than reading about a lost child in the newspaper or seeing the story of a child gone missing on the news. Fortunately for us as parents there is a way to avoid this type of tragedy through GPS tracking for children. Global positioning system technology can make it so that we need not worry about our children being lost as much as we used to in the past.

GPS systems for kids are small devices that can be worn or implanted (嵌入) in a watch or attached to the child’s clothing or backpack. It will then deliver information to you about the child’s location at all times providing you with peace of mind. The GPS systems can be programmed to send information in intervals (间隔) as short as 15 seconds.

You can imagine how much more relaxed you would be when you’re able to log   (登录) into your computer at any time and know within several yards exactly where your child is. Some of the GPS kids units even have a panic button that the child can push to send an immediate alert in case of an emergency. This notification will go both to you and to the GPS tracking service so that authorities can be alerted.

For small children the GPS tracking device can be as small as a watch and will run on batteries   (电池) for up to 24 hours before needing to be recharged. For older children you can even place a device in their car to monitor their driving habits and where they are driving. Personal GPS units for kids are not cheap and the smaller the device the higher the price. Can you really say that anything is too expensive when discussing the safety and well being of your children? In addition to the cost of the device you will also need to pay a fee to the GPS tracking service. In the world we live in sometimes it is difficult to be too safe and these GPS kids systems can provide many parents with added peace of mind.

24、If you’re tired of the big cities and sandy beaches; if you don’t want to head to Disney again, perhaps it’s time for a summer holiday in space. Russia has declared(宣布) plans for its first floating hotel, 217 miles above earth, and it is something of an offering with good service.

Hosting just seven guests in four cabins(座舱), the accommodation (膳宿) will include huge windows with views back to earth and tasty microwave meals will be served instead of the ones often used by astronauts.

Just getting there will be an adventure in itself—it will take two days aboard a rocket—and it won’t exactly be a budget holiday: A five-day stay will cost you£100, 000 to£500, 000 for your journey. The hotel is due to open by 2019 and it will be far more comfortable than the International Space Station (ISS) used by astronauts and cosmonauts.

In the weightlessness of space, visitors can choose to have beds that are either vertical(垂直的) or horizontal(水平的). Tourists, who will be accompanied by experienced astronauts, will dine on food prepared on Earth and sent up on the rocket, to be reheated in microwave ovens(炉子). Many kinds of delicious food will be offered.

Iced tea, mineral water and fruit juices will be included, but alcohol will be strictly forbidden. Toilets will use flowing air instead of water to move waste through the system. Waste water will be recycled.

Sergei Kostenko, chief executive of Orbital Technologies which will construct the hotel, said: “Our planned module inside will not remind you of the International Space Station. A hotel should be comfortable inside, and it will be possible to look at the Earth.
