21、Yelp, the San Francisco Internet company that makes reviews of restaurants and other businesses across a large part of America, is getting into the food delivery business.
Today, the company has announced that it has agreed to acquire Eat24, a food company that delivers food to homes on behalf of partner restaurants. Yelp is paying $134 million for the company—$75 million in cash and the rest in stock. Eat24 works with 20,000 restaurants in more than 1,500 cities all over the U.S.
On Yelp's reviews site, you can find new restaurants to suit your tastes, and now that the company is acquiring Eat24, the idea is that it will also let you take the next step: order food to your door.
“If you're looking at a restaurant, you want to be able to book that restaurant,” Yelp co-founder and CEO Jeremy said in a Tuesday interview. “If we can integrate(融入) that into the Yelp experience, it makes the site much better.”
The move is just one way that some of Internet's most recognizable names are branching into online food delivery to improve their existing business. Last August, payments company Square bought Caviar, a high-end quick food delivery service. And that same month, Uber tested a fast food delivery service called UberFRESH, which aimed to deliver meals from local restaurants to customers in less than 10 minutes.
In each case, food delivery can provide an added source of income, and it can also help these companies push the use of their existing services. The market for food delivery is hardly small, and mobile technologies can speed up the process, potentially expanding the business even further.
【1】How does Yelp pay for the company Eat24?
A. Totally by cheque. B. Totally in cash. C. Only in credit D. Partly in stock.

22、It’s practically a scene on American television. A baby is born. Friends and family offer their congratulations. But then, in the car from the hospital, a deep worry falls over the parents. “How in the world are we going to pay for college?”
It’s true that going to university abroad is a very expensive option. Tuition is much higher than at Chinese universities, and then there are the expenses for room and board.
Tuition at Harvard this year is around $46,000(¥318,700), but when you include student service fees, room, and board, that figure jumps to over S65, 000 a year.
Schools outside the US are a little bit less expensive on average, but they can still empty your wallet. Tuition at Oxford University is at least ¥136,500. The cost of Australia’s University of Melbourne varies a great deal depending on the discipline, but tuition alone will likely set students back ¥148, 500 a year.
These numbers can be really shocking, but don’t worry. Most universities have systems in place to help students pay for their education.
The first thing you should look into is whether or not you are fit for financial aid. While some universities don’t allow international students to apply for aid, many make no distinction.
While most financial aid is “need-based”, meaning that you have to demonstrate that your parents cannot afford to pay the full amount, there are also scholarships based on merit. If you are a math talent or a promising basketball player you might end up going to college free of charge.
Then, there are some scholarships that are designed specifically for Chinese students. The famous Freeman Scholarship at Wesleyan University, for example, is awarded to two Chinese students from Hong Kong and two from the mainland each year.
【1】What do American parents often worry about, according to the first paragraph?
A.Their children’s health after leaving the hospital.
B.The stress their children will face at college.
C.How to pay for their children’s college education.
D.The future their children will have after college.

A.International students are looked down upon at some universities.
B.Some universities only offer financial aid to local students.
C.International students can’t get financial aid at most universities.
D.There are strict rules about financial aid for international students.
【3】Who can receive the Freeman Scholarship?

B.Susan, a Chinese girl who is gifted in mathematics.
C.Ann, a Japanese girl who plays music.
D.Joe, a Canadian who plays basketball very well.
【4】What is the best title of the text?

23、When you are communication, you spend nearly 60% of your time listening to other people, but most people only remember 25% of what they hear. 【1】
Be more present. When you are listening to someone, put everything else aside and give your full attention to the person. Make sure you keep eye contact with the person at all times.
【2】 When you are listening to another person, try to think what they might be feeling or going through at that very moment. Sympathy for others can allow you to imagine yourself in the situation from the person's angle and see what you can learn from the discussion.
Ask more questions. Being a good listener doesn't just mean that you sit quietly and let the other person speak. 【3】 The more interested you are in what the person is saying, the better the conversation will be. The key is to let questions carry forward the conversation and to leave enough room for the person to continue talking.
Train your emotional intelligence. Your emotional intelligence influences your ability to listen to other people. 【4】 Learn to understand your own emotions, both negative and positive. Be aware of your reactions when you are listening to someone.
Make a note of the conversation. 【5】 You need to think about the key message of the discussion, and analyse what you and the other person have learned from it. So making an internal note of the conversation can help you further improve your listening as well as communication skills as a whole.
A.Try to think carefully.
B.Be in sympathy with the person.
C.The good news is that you can train it.
D.So why can't most people be great listeners?
E.You also need to inquire about something meaningful.
F.So what can you do to listen more and become a great listener?

By morning, Afiq knew what he had to do. He had not slept a wink but had sat in the balcony all night thinking. He stretched his body and went back to his room. His brother Affin was still asleep.
It was Saturday and there was no school. Afiq's mother asked him to buy some groceries for her. On his way out, he glanced at his motorcycle with the broken front lamp and scratches on the side. Afiq straightened his shoulders and went to complete his purchase.
It was late morning when Afiq was free to carry out his plan. He marched down the road to Osman's house. When he arrived, Aniya appeared at the doorway and greeted him warmly. She invited him in and served him tea and some cakes. Afiq nervously asked to speak to Osman. She told him that her father was out but would be home very soon. Sure enough, the elderly man returned in ten minutes.
Afiq cleared his throat a few times and said that he had come to confess (坦白). “I'm so sorry. I was careless yesterday and knocked into your parked car,” Afiq said. Osman looked at the 17-year-old youth, surprised, “So, you are saying that you are the culprit (肇事者) who crashed into my car and then ran away?” Afiq went red. He nodded, “I'm sorry for not telling you earlier. I was too frightened.”
The elderly man smiled and said, “But you're not too frightened to confess now?”
Afiq said uncertainly, “I could not sleep last night thinking about it. I knew I had to do the right thing.”
Osman was silent for a minute before saying in a kind voice, “Do you think it a right thing to cover up for your brother?”
