六、阅读理解(共4题,共 20分)

21、   Sometimes we feel good, such as when we get good grades or when something good happens. Sometimes we feel bad, such as when we argue with our classmates or when the teachers criticize us. Both kinds of feelings are common. Of course, we all enjoy good feelings, but when we feel unhappy, sometimes we don't know what to do about it. Here is a plan that will help you when your feelings are bothering you.

1. ACCEPT your feelings. Say to yourself, “I am sad. ” “I am scared. ” “I am angry. ” “I am embarrassed. ” It's all right to have these feelings.

2. RELAX and have a rest before you act.  Take slow deep breaths (呼吸) and relax your body. Imagine that you are in a safe place.  You can listen to some music or sing a beautiful song!

3. THINK about ways to help yourself. Thinking helps you do something smart instead of hurting yourself or making things worse.

4. DO something to help yourself.  Maybe you can talk to someone, or do something you enjoy.  If it doesn't work, go back to Step 3.

根据短文内容选择正确选项,将序号填在前面括号内。

22、   A long time ago, there was a big apple tree. A little boy loved to come and played around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap(小睡) under the shadow. He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.

Time went by. The little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree, and he looked sad. “I want toys. I need money to buy them,” he said. “You can pick all my apples and sell them. So you will have money,” The tree said. The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily.

One day, the boy returned, and the tree was so excited. “I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter(居所). Can you help me? ” “You can chop off my branches(树枝) to build your house.” So the boy cut all the branches of the tree and left happily.

One hot summer day, the boy returned, and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat? ” “Use my trunks(树干)to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy. ” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.

Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I don't have anything for you anymore.” The tree said with tears. “I don’t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.” The boy replied. “Good! An old tree root is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, come, sit down with me and rest.” The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.

You may think that the boy is cruel (残忍的)to the tree, but that’s how all of us are treating our parents.

23、   Stonehenge, a rock circle, is not only one of Britain’s most famous historical places but also one of its greatest mysteries (秘密). Every year it receives more than 750,000 visitors. People like to go to this place especially in June as they want to see the sun rising on the longest day of the year.

For many years, historians (历史学家) believed Stonehenge was a temple where ancient leaders tried to communicate with the gods. However, historian Paul Stoker thinks this can’t be true because Stonehenge was built so many centuries ago. “The leaders arrived in England much later,” he points out.

Another popular idea is that Stonehenge might be a kind of calendar. The large stones were put together in a certain way. On midsummer’s morning, the sun shines directly into the center of the stones. Other people believe the stones have a medical purpose. They think the stones can prevent illness and keep people healthy. “As you walk there, you can feel the energy from your feet move up your body,” said one visitor. No one is sure what Stonehenge was used for, but most agree that the position of the stones must be for a special purpose. Some think it might be a burial (埋葬) place or a place to honor ancestors (祖先). Others think it was built to celebrate a victory over an enemy.

Stonehenge was built slowly over a long period of time. Most historians believe it must be almost 5,000 years old. One of the greatest mysteries is how it was built because the stones are so big and heavy. In 2001, a group of English volunteers tried to build another Stonehenge, but they couldn’t. “We don’t really know who built Stonehenge,” says Paul Stoker. “And perhaps we might never know, but we do know they must have been hard-working-and great planners!”

1Visitors like to go there in ________ to enjoy ________ on the longest day of the year.

A.June; sunrise B.July; sunrise C.June; sunset D.July; sunset

2When was Stonehenge most likely (可能) built?

A.750,000 years ago. B.Six centuries ago. C.In 2001. D.5,000 years ago.

3What do most people think was Stonehenge built for?

A.Ancient leaders built it a temple to communicate with the gods.

B.It might be a kind of calendar to tell people the summertime.

C.It can prevent illness and make people feel energetic.

D.It must be for a special purpose because of the position of the stones.

4What aren’t people interested in about Stonehenge?

A.Who built it. B.Where it was built.

C.When it was built. D.Why it was built.

5What does Paul Stoker mean by “we do know they must have been hard-working-and great planners”?

A.He thinks Stonehenge is really a great mystery.

B.He has known who built Stonehenge.

C.He believes he will find out who built Stonehenge.

D.He encourages volunteers to build another Stonehenge.

24、Making friends is a skill. Like most skills, it improves with practice. If you want to meet people and make friends, you must be willing to take some actions. You must first go where there are people. You won’t make friends by staying at home alone.

Join a club or a group, talking with those who like the same things as you do is much easier, or join some activities.

Many people are nervous when talking to new people. After all meeting strangers means facing the unknown. And it’s human nature to feel a bit uncomfortable about the unknown.

Most of our fears about dealing with new people come from doubts (怀疑)about ourselves. We imagine other people are judging us, finding us too tall or too short, too this or too that. But don’t forget that they must be feeling the same way. Try to accept yourself as you are and try to put the other people at ease. You’ll both feel more comfortable.

Try to act self-confidence (自信)even if you don’t feel that way when you enter a room full of strangers, such as a new classroom. Walk tall and straight, look directly at other people and smile.

If you see someone you’d like to speak to, say something. Don’t wait for the other person to start a conversation.

Just meeting someone new doesn’t mean that you’ll make friends with that person — friendships are based on mutual(相互的)liking and “give and take”. They take time and effort to develop. And there are things that keep a new friendship from growing.

【1】You can not make friends ________.

A.if you take actions
