27、“My painting is both about modern China and traditional China,” 13-year-old Mahshid Ghasemi said on Wednesday when introducing her work, which won the first prize in the first China-themed painting competition for Iranian children and teenagers.

The contest, together organized by the Chinese Embassy in Iran and Iran’s Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (Kanoon), was divided into two age groups, and received 427 paintings from young people across Iran. Each group was awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes.

Ghasemi, from Isfahan province, said she used a dragon, fans, and ancient buildings to depict the traditional part of China with red as the main color and illustrated scenes of Chinese people celebrating the Lunar New Year. Meanwhile, in the modern China part, she focuses on China’s skyscrapers and urban development, and there are also celebratory farmers, representing the country ‘s progress in poverty alleviation(减轻,缓解).

Mehrnaz Tolouei, the first prize winner in the 7-11 age group, painted a scene of ancient Persians trading with the Chinese on the ancient Silk Road routes, an idea inspired by his father, Mahmoud Tolouei.

Noting that Iranian literary and artistic works contain a lot of Chinese stories and elements, Hamed Alamati, Kanoon’s general manager, said that his institute stands ready to work with the Chinese embassy to further strengthen the exchanges between the young people of the two countries with painting, a common artistic language of mankind, and constantly improve their mutual understanding. “Such efforts will add new strength to the long-standing friendly exchanges between the two countries,” Alamati added.

28、   If you’re looking for European culture, there are few better places to visit than Switzerland. Known as the melting pot of Europe, it combines the cultures of Europe with extreme beauty and fantastic food.

Switzerland’s culture is a combination of neighboring states: France, Germany, and Italy. The result is a multilingual country, as eastern Switzerland speaks French, the southern part speaks Italian and the rest speaks German.

Like the language, the cuisine is also quite different by region. If you visit cities like Geneva, you’ll find traditional French dishes like fondue and raclette, melted Swiss cheese served over bread or potatoes. Meanwhile, in German-speaking regions, like Zurich, you’ll find Rosti, a typical side dish made from fried potatoes.

However, if there’s one thing that unites the Swiss and the rest of the world, it’s their love of chocolate. Swiss chocolate factories are “the most luxurious in the world”. US travel blogger Sarah Schmalbruch wrote on Business Insider that famous brands, like Lindt, are based in the country. Visitors to Switzerland can enjoy tasting chocolates, and even take classes from master chocolate makers.

Aside from the wide variety of food on offer, Switzerland also offers thrills. The Swiss Alps offer year-round skiing and mountain climbing with local experts. Besides, you can visit the beautiful Matterhorn, known for its distinctive pyramid shape and snow-capped peak. Standing at a height of more than 4,400 meters, it is the most pictured mountain in the world, according to Smithsonian magazine.

But if city culture is more your thing, you’ll find a large group of museums and art galleries, not to mention the world’s largest teddy bear museum in Basel.

Even the largest Swiss cities tend to be laid back (悠闲自在的), but with many exciting activities and cultural sites, Switzerland is perfect for every taste. After all, where else in Europe offers you the culture of four different countries?

29、There is no better way to immerse yourself in Saskatchewan’s diverse landscapes than by hitting one of the beautiful hiking trails. Here are three hikes to discover.

Gem Lakes, Narrow Hills Provincial Park

The Gem Lakes are located in the Narrow Hills Provincial Park of Saskatchewan. Their waters are fed by springs from the surrounding hills, reflecting the sun and creating gem-like colors. There is a 5-kilometre hiking trail that loops around the tiny lakes. You can bring a tent and spend the night in the campground. The lakes are stocked with fish and many people bring their kayaks to spend the day floating around in the tranquility of the water trying to catch a delicious meal.

Nut Point Trail, Lac La Ronge Provincial Park

Located on a peninsula that extends to the massive Lac La Ronge lake is the Nut Point trail, a 30-kilometre backcountry hike along the spine of billion year old rock. The hiking trail ends with a beautiful spot overlooking the historic Lac La Ronge Lake. Set up your tent on the rocks in order to enjoy the sounds of the water. If you’re lucky, the Northern Lights will explode overhead in night sky. Make sure you bring your bathing suit for a relaxing dip in the cool waters!

Sand Dunes (沙丘) Nature Trail, Douglas Provincial Park

Have you ever wanted to walk on a rolling sand dune? There are two places for you. The first are the famous Athabasca Sand Dunes, the world’s most northerly active sand dunes. The second are the Great Sandhills, a 1, 900-square-kilometre protected area. The hike in Douglas Provincial Park sand dunes is a time machine of geological history. As you hike through the fine sand and learn more about what was only here a short 11, 000 years ago, you will appreciate the geological forces that created the province as it stands today.
