Little stream ran down from a high mountain through many villages and forests. Then it reached a desert. I went through so many difficulties. I should have no problem crossing the desert,” she thought. As she started, she found herself slowly disappearing into the sand. After many times, she still failed. “Maybe I can’t reach the ocean.” She said sadly to herself.

At this time, a deep voice said, “If a breeze (微风)can cross the desert, so can a river.” It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream answered, That’s because a breeze can fly, but I cannot.”

“That’s because you can’t give up what you are. Let yourself evaporate(蒸发) into the breeze, and it can take you across,” said the desert. “Give up what I am now? No! No!” The little stream could not accept this idea. “The breeze can carry the vapor(水汽) across the desert and let it leave as rain. The rain will form a river again,” said the desert, And whether you’re a river or vapor, your nature never changes.” Hearing this, this little stream went into the open arms of the breeze. It carried her to the next stage of her life.

The course of our lives is like the experience of the little stream. If you want to go through difficulties in your life to head for success, you should also change the way you are.

C. To succeed, we should change the way we are if necessary.

D. We may experience difficulties in life just like the little stream.

25、   A computer can get very hot when it works on a lot of programs. It can cost a lot to cool the computer. So some scientists want to know what would happen when if the heat from the computer could be used.

Large Internet companies such as Google and Microsoft have thousands of computers. As these computers deal with information, they produce lots of heat, so they need huge cooling systems. These systems send the heat into the air.

A company in the Netherlands thinks paying to make the computers work and then paying again to cool them are a waste of energy. So the company developed a special devicethe e-Radiator.

Boaz Leupe, head of the company, says that e-Radiator works as a heating system and saves money. He explains that the energy is used twiceonce to heat the home and once to cool the computer and that the users don't have to pay to cool their computers.

Five homeowners in the Netherlands are testing the heating system in their homes.

"We pay for the computer usage, so in that way, homeowners get heating for free." Boaz says.

Jan Visser is one of the homeowners. "If you use the computer more, the e-Radiator produces more heat," he says. "It cannot provide enough heat if you don't use your computer often." But he is ready to try it. It's a great help to his family.

The company says e-Radiators produce heat temperature of up to 55. It says the system could save its users about $ 440 a year.

1Which of the following is true?

A.Before the e-Radiator appears, the heat of a computer is usually sent into the air.

26、   “Keep calm and carry on” — You can see this message written on many T-shirts and other tourist souvenirs (纪念品) in London and the UK. It has become so famous that there are many versions (版本) of it: “keep calm and drink tea”; “keep calm and love dogs”; “keep calm and learn English”. As you can see, you can substitute (替换) the “carry on” part for anything you want, really!

But where does the original phrase come from? Well, it comes from World War . It was a message to calm people down and encourage them during the war when London was being attacked. The idea was to carry on with life as normal, as if there was no war.

Staying calm when you’re in trouble is known as a very British thing to do. British people are famous for keeping a “stiff upper lip”. This means your lips (嘴唇) don’t shake when you are excited or frightened: you stay calm and don’t show people how you are really feeling.

Are British people still like this today? Do they still keep a “stiff upper lip”? Modern Britain is very different from how it was 60 years ago and British people probably show their feelings more than they used to. But if “keep calm and carry on” is still so famous today, then it must be something that British people still think and care about, and something they are still famous for. So next time you are frightened or in danger, just keep calm and carry on!

1Where is the original phrase “Keep calm and carry on” from?

A.A tea house in UK.

B.T-shirt and tourist souvenirs.

C.World War .

D.Modern Britain.

2According to Para. 1, what message will possibly be given to Grade 9 students who’re facing important exams?

A.Keep calm and work hard.

B.Keep calm and love dogs.

C.Stop crying and eat more.

D.Drink tea and learn English.

3What does the underlined phrase in Para. 3 probably mean?

A.唇亡齿寒 B.唇枪舌战 C.泰然自若 D.装腔作势

4What is the best title of the passage?

A.Britain’s Most Famous Slogan

B.UK — A Great Country

C.The Culture Development in UK

D.The Changes of the British People

27、   Have you heard of 5G? It is the fifth generation of mobile network technology. If the past few years were about testing and developing of 5G technology, it’s time to show some real applications ( 应用) this year. What changes will 5G bring to us?

First, 5G promises much faster data download and upload speeds, and more stable connections. This means that you will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds and only experience a short delay between sending and receiving data. Also, VR games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games more real.

This big change will not only make our mobile Internet faster. It will also change every industry like health care in telemedicine and self-driving cars. These cars can send signals to each other. They also “talk” to traffic lights and road sensors (传感器). 5G will show cars to react even faster than human drivers.

5G also makes the Internet of Things (IoT 物联网) possible. IoT is a large network that connects everything to the Internet. Smart homes are part of it. For example, your toaster could automatically ( ) start making breakfast after your alarm rings.

Though 5G makes our lives more convenient, it will not be perfect. For one thing, 5G will not “travel” far. On 4G networks, we can be 10 kilometers away from the nearest transmission base (传输基地) and barely lost signal. But 5G will only cover about 300 meters, meaning that we will need more transmitters so that we can get signals. And in order to use 5G, we will have to buy new products specifically designed for 5G that are presently expensive.

1You will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds because 5G promises   .

C.much faster data download and upload speeds D.a long delay between sending and receiving data

2The examples of the toaster is used to explain the usage of 5G in the area of   .

3The underlined word “react” in Paragraph 3 means   in Chinese.

4Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

A.5G technology is in the period of testing this year.

B.Special designed phones for 5G are not expensive at present.

C.Self-driving cars are faster than human drivers with the help of 5G.

D.With the help of 5G, patients can see the doctor through the Internet.

5The best title for this passage would be “   ”.

A.Future Technology B.The Fastest Generation

C.The advantages of 5G D.5G Network is on the Way
